What Goes Wrong

When Stone Veneer Problems Go Beyond the Surface

Cracking, staining, bulging, or stone veneer that begins separating from the wall can be reasons to look more closely at the system behind it.

Stone veneer relies on details such as proper grade clearance, kick-out flashing, weather protection, and drainage or weep provisions where appropriate. If those details are missing, damaged, or improperly integrated, moisture can reach sheathing or framing behind the veneer.

The extent of any underlying damage depends on the actual conditions at the home, which is why the exterior should be evaluated before the scope is assumed.

Our Process

Remediation Means Addressing the Full System

When a stone veneer remediation project requires the existing veneer to be removed, the exposed assembly helps determine what comes next.

If deteriorated sheathing or framing is found, those materials can be repaired before the wall is rebuilt. The work may also include weather barriers, flashing, drainage, and weep details so the stone veneer is integrated with the larger exterior system.

The goal is to address the conditions behind the veneer as well as the finished appearance.
